WASHINGTON STATE FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE PAC (WAFOP PAC)
The Washington Fraternal Order of Police PAC is the power behind our organization's punch on Capitol Hill in Olympia. It provides opportunities for all police officers to get involved and keeps the FOP at the forefront of important legislative debates in Olympia. The WAFOP PAC is being organized and will be working aggressively to grow its funds to help elect and retain candidates that help make the rank-and-file law enforcement officer's voice heard on issues that affect our jobs, families, and communities, especially in the LEOFF Plan 2 pension system.
WHAT IS A POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (PAC)?

A political action committee is a vehicle through which individuals with similar interests pool their personal contributions for greater impact. Our PAC would support candidates for state office who can affect state legislation of interest to the group.

PAC’s are independent of any political party or any specific candidate, and make contributions regardless of party affiliation.

The Public Disclosure Commission (PDC) administers and enforces the legislative and election activities.

WHAT IS WAFOP PAC?

WAFOP PAC is the Washington State Fraternal Order of Police's political action committee (PAC). It is an integral part of the FOP's efforts to support and promote the state legislative and political interests of all FOP members. The PAC provides access and exists to give a voice to many FOP members who otherwise would not be heard.

The mission of WAFOP PAC is to educate members of the State Legislature about issues important to law enforcement officers, especially our retirement system, such as providing for a safer and more professional work environment by electing candidates to office that support those issues.

The purposes of the WAFOP PAC are to promote the FOP's top legislative priorities and to provide the opportunity for individuals who are interested in the safety, health and occupational security of the rank-and-file law enforcement officer to contribute to the support of worthy candidates for State Office who believe, and have demonstrated their belief in and the principles to which the FOP is dedicated.

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE?
As a State registered PAC, WAFOP PAC may only solicit contributions from individual FOP members and their spouses and family members. The PAC cannot accept donations from a Local Lodge, Association, Guild, Union or other organization.
HOW IS MY CONTRIBUTION USED?

Your contribution allows the WAFOP PAC to educate members of the Washington State Legislature about issues important to you and influence state policy making through this political action.

The FOP is the nation's oldest, largest, and most influential organization of law enforcement professionals in the United States. We play a prominent role in the formation of national law enforcement policy. Last year, the National FOP supported candidates who best demonstrated their commitment to those issues that are of greatest concern for the rank-and-file law enforcement officer. As a newly formed organization in Washington State we need to be proactive in keeping our pension system intact and preventing bill from passing that create issues for our officers on the street in doing their jobs.

Our goal is to raise funds for these purposes, and from such funds to make contributions to assist candidates, without regard to party affiliations, who demonstrate their commitment to issues most important to members of the FOP.

DO I REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

WAFOP PAC's strength comes from you and your commitment to law enforcement. Each individual WAFOP PAC supporter helps us stand together and promote the strength and future of law enforcement officers in Washington State.
